Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has announced the results of their 2023 Provider Satisfaction Survey, receiving a 78 percent overall provider satisfaction score.
The survey, conducted last fall, was expanded to include all behavioral health providers, physicians with MBBS degrees (international medical degree equivalent to MD or DO), and credentialed nurse practitioners.
“These results continue to reflect that our relationships with providers and operational performance that providers and their patients, our members rely on are strong and meeting their expectations. Their feedback has provided us with a new baseline for the 2024 survey, and opportunities to enhance our outreach, education, and support,” says Misty Postol, Excellus BCBS vice president of provider relations & communications.
Excellus BCBS has a long-standing history of strong provider satisfaction results even in times of a pandemic and market pressures. These results are in line with our enterprise goals and past performance.
“Collaborating with providers on ways to control costs without negatively impacting patient care during a year of heightened inflationary pressures was a priority, and we rose to the occasion with the support of many cross-functional teams throughout the Health Plan,” says Postol.
Excellus BCBS remains competitively well positioned, and the results affirm that most providers believe the Health Plan is on par with, or performing better than, other health insurers.
Postol’s team is currently completing a deep dive into the survey feedback to identify improvement opportunities as the Health Plan finalizes its 2025 goals. A major milepost on Excellus BCBS’s road map is the multi-year Integrated Provider Experience project, which will continue to introduce more technology and self-service enhancements to help provider offices work more efficiently with the Health Plan.
