Excellus BCBS expands CNY regional president’s role to include Southern Tier
November 7, 2024
Excellus BlueCross BlueShield has announced the recent expansion of its Central New York Regional President Mark Muthumbi’s role and responsibilities, which will now include oversight of the Southern Tier region, specifically Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Schuyler, Steuben and Tioga counties.
This expansion is a natural progression, as Muthumbi has successfully overseen sales operations and team dynamics in the Southern Tier for many years. His in-depth familiarity with the region will enable a seamless transition as he takes charge of both the Central New York and Southern Tier areas.
"Mark is exceptionally suited for this expanded position," says Melissa Gardner, Excellus BCBS executive vice president, chief population health engagement officer. "His established connections with employers, health care providers, brokers, and community stakeholders in the Southern Tier will allow us to continue to enhance local services and foster community engagement."
"I am excited to take on this expanded role and to deepen Excellus BCBS’s connection with the Southern Tier community. I look forward to working closely with our dedicated staff to support our members and enhance the services we provide in this region,” says Muthumbi.
Mark is a board member of the Longhouse Council (Boy Scouts of America); Hospice of Central New York; Pan African Community of Central New York (PACCNY), HealtheConnections and Three Rivers. Mark is a 40 Under Forty award recipient, a graduate of Leadership Greater Syracuse, and a certified health consultant professional with the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and the Academy for Healthcare Management. He is licensed in life, accident, and health insurance with the state of New York.
Mark holds a master's degree in business administration from Le Moyne College and a bachelor's degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
