Rochester, NY – For the fourth consecutive year, local nonprofit health insurer, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS) has been named to the Forbes list of America’s Best Midsize Employers.

The Health Plan ranked #67 on the 2026 list of top employers. The company was listed #3 among midsize employers in the insurance industry nationwide.

“We’re honored to be recognized again among the top midsize employers,” said Excellus BCBS President and CEO Jim Reed. “This distinction highlights the strength of our people and our shared commitment to creating an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports our mission to passionately serve our members.”

This award is presented in collaboration with Statista Inc., a global statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

America’s Best Employers 2026 are selected using an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 217,000 U.S. employees working for companies from all industry sectors employing at least 1,000 people within the U.S.

Organizations named to the list have demonstrated a commitment to fostering an environment where employees can thrive.

The final ranking is based on two types of evaluations:

  • Personal - Given by employees themselves.
  • Public - Given by friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry.

Survey respondents are asked to evaluate the employer on key dimensions such as atmosphere, development, compensation, company image, culture and work environment.  Based on the results of the study, Excellus BCBS has been recognized on the Forbes list of America’s Best Midsize Employers 2026.
