Excellus BlueCross BlueShield named to TIME's inaugural list of America's Best Private Companies

Rochester, N.Y. – Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS), a nonprofit health insurer serving upstate New York, has been named to TIME's inaugural list of America's Best Private Companies 2026. The organization ranked 227th among 500 private companies recognized nationwide. The list, developed by TIME and Statista, highlights organizations that excel in employee satisfaction and positive impact on society.
TIME partnered with Statista to launch the first edition of America's Best Private Companies. The ranking recognizes privately held organizations that demonstrate excellence in two key areas: employee satisfaction and company impact.
America's Best Private Companies 2026 were evaluated based on:
- Employee Satisfaction – Survey data from approximately 217,000 employees of U.S. companies collected over a three-year period, including recommendations from current and former employees and evaluations across categories such as image, atmosphere, working conditions, salary and equality.
- Company Impact – An assessment of each organization's net impact on society, knowledge, health and the environment.
Organizations named to the list have demonstrated a commitment to supporting their employees while creating meaningful value for their communities, industries and stakeholders.
